The Southern Cross Building Society is proud to have provided financial services to our customers since 1923 and remains substantially New Zealand owned. The Society Head Office is based in Auckland, with seven branches and approximately 60 agencies throughout the North Island. We offer a range of products and services including Savings Accounts, Term Investments, Internet and Telephone Banking, Home Loans, Rural Loans and Commercial Loans. Our interest rates on deposits are always attractive and our lending rates are competitive.
The Society's principal assets are:
- First mortgage advances on commercial, rural and residential properties
- Government and Local Authority Securities, Bank Deposits and Commercial Bills
- Land and buildings leased as office accommodation
The Society's key operating principles are:
- Governed by the Building Societies Act
- Strong liquidity, reserves and good quality asset base
- Loans secured by New Zealand properties only
- No overseas lending or investments
- Conservative and risk averse lending criteria
- Maximum loan to value ratio of 80% for residential properties and 67% for commercial and rural lending
